New statistics published today (26.04.16) show the volume of residential property sales in Scotland has increased by 18.2% during the last quarter (January to March).
There was a total of 19,802 sales across the country, which is the highest number for this quarter since 2007/08.
The average property price in the quarter was £159,198 a decrease of 8.4% compared to the previous year. East Renfrewshire recorded the highest average at £222,303, a fall of 7.9% compared with the same quarter the previous year, with the largest percentage rise in in North Lanarkshire, a which increased by 6.6% with an average price of £116,738.
The total value of sales across Scotland registered in the quarter increased by 8.3% compared to the previous year to just over £3.15 billion.
